Speech Therapy

Speech language pathology (SLP) is an important service within Covell Care and Rehabilitation to help people become more independent in their daily life. Speech therapists (ST) assess, diagnose, treat and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognition, communication, voice, swallowing and fluency.

Leo

Leo works on communication after his stroke to help him stay connected to his family and friends.

Communication is a huge part of connecting to others, getting our needs met and discovering information. Communication impairments can create enormous amounts of frustration for the person with the difficulty as well those they are attempting to communicate with. Speech therapists specialize in restoring communication or finding ways to enhance communication if it can not be restored. This includes training with assistive technology devices and communication equipment.

Dysphagia (discomfort and/or difficulty with swallowing) can be a severe condition affecting life and health of clients we work with. Our speech therapists specialize in improving dysphagia to make eating and swallowing safer, more enjoyable and manageable.
